So today I decided I would try and learn to properly paint with watercolours, with only YOUTUBE as my instructor....LOL I know- not the brightest crayon in the box....♥
I first began to paint with acrylics many years ago when I took a Decorative Painting Course and try as I may, I cannot master the technique of watercolours.
As you can see, with both attempts....I still paint as though I am painting with acrylics.....
So I must go with it, until the day I can find someone to actually teach me watercolour painting...
I'm o.k. with it though....as a read recently, it's important to find your own style and go with it...
Soooooo, I'm going with it
Have a great day....
Hi Cindy-
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that I'm not the only one who uses watercolors that way! :) And really, your tulips are lovely the way you make them- who says there has to be a 'right' way with any kind of art?
I tried to 'learn' watercolor too- and I just didn't have any fun trying to do it the way 'the book' showed me! Maybe I'm just rebellious, but I guess I just like doing it my way!
Cindy, your watercolors are great! If this is your first attempt (at watercolors), i don't think you should stop here. Keep painting! And yes, go with your own style! xoxo
ReplyDeleteAAh, Cindy, you totally make me happy. I'm so glad to see that our discussion about style and embracing it made an impression. I, too, work in watercolors just like you do. In high school I started in tempera paint and I don't seem to be able to get away from putting the color where I want it, not letting the water do the work. But, you know, I think over years, I'll grow and learn, until then I'm gonna be happy with MY style, if I don't love it no one else will!
ReplyDeleteYour new blog header looks fabulous by the way!
Thanks for visiting my blog and commenting, it was so nice to see you. Hope to see you this week in APR!
Best,
Jenn of www.JustAddWaterSilly.com
Oh, and by the way, just so I"m clear, your tulips ROCK!! (totally YOUR style, I'd recognize it anywhere!)
