Despair

Mother's Day quiet time.

I thought i would give a go at doing an "altered Journal"....not sure exactly how long i will remember to do it, but i'm going to try.

 I bought an old "plumbers" hardcover book at Staples the other day, with this project in mind..... Staples is selling used books for some charity or other, so it was $3.00 well spent.

 Originally i had painted three pages in Gesso (its what everyone is saying you must use....o.k.)

 It turned out like crap....yuk....so i ripped it out and decided to draw/paint directly on the paper.

 I kind of liked how the paints (watercolour pencils) worked on the paper.....i put a last layer of Neocolour white over everything.....*note to self* black pigment pen does not like going over Neocolour white wax....*

i don't really mind all the words showing through.....

I did go back later to one of the Gesso'd pages and painted a smudge of colours.....it wasn't as bad, maybe the trick is to let it sit for quite a while......i don't think it will work well with the watercolour pencils, but i will try again....

I didn't take a photo of the second attempt, I'm too tired, and it's time for bed....
