Clive Owen may not be the godliest of men, but he did play a roman soldier of honour
Put on the whole Armour of God for the spirit of heaviness, sing in the Spirit and with understanding, oh magnify the Lord.
That's what I heard before I woke up this morning. Now the chorus really goes like this;
(Put on the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness,Lift up your voice to God.Praise with the Spirit and with understand,O magnify the Lord. )
Song written by: David Ingles
But for whatever reason I heard it differently.
Funny how you can hear something and never really "hear it". I have heard and sung that song so many times, but today I heard the chorus...well at least my version. To sing in the Spirit I understand, but "with understanding" was always just part of the sentence....until this morning. I get it, I am to sing with understanding..... with my words, words that I understand....out loud, in English.....because that's what I understand..... so.... La La La La La La La... :0)
And my armour, I have not been putting it on.... it has been so far back in my closet the moths didn't even know it was there. Silly silly me.....I guess I figured if I didn't put my armour on, I didn't have to go into battle...........WRONG.
I'm always in a battle, we all are....so why not go into battle prepared, that would only make sense...
How foolish to think that ignoring the battle, it doesn't exist. Dangerous way to think.
Eph 6:13-18
Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,
and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
Now will I wake each day and put my armour on???? I guess only time and life will tell. I would like to think I would, but sadly I think I know myself too well..........I will probably forget I have it.
