And the Rockets Red Glare... the Bombs Bursting in Air

Now wouldn't you say that that is an odd song for a Canadian to have running through her head.
But strange as it is, that song; or that part of the song has been running through my head for weeks now. This morning I even had a dream that I was singing my heart out to that line, with tears running down my face.
Star Spangled Banner
...♫and the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air, held true to the night that our flag was still there, oh say does that star spangled banner yet wave, for the land of the free, and the home of the brave.....♫
I'm not even sure if I sing it correctly, I do know though that when I sing ♪"held true to the night that our flag was still there",♪ I start to cry..... see, just typing it makes me want to cry.
What is it about this song that moves me so????
I know that it is the anthem of a very proud country, my neighbour and ally, but what about it is so significant???? Ally(.to associate or connect by some mutual relationship, as resemblance or friendship.)
Perhaps it has something to do with loyalty, which I am discovering, is very important to me. I am drawn to the dedication, camaraderie, loyalty and the attitude that I see in the military and the Public Services ( Fireman and Police) at least "Hollywood's" version of the them :0)
I often have said, if only Christian would band together with the same attitude and loyalty as the military, the fireman or even the motorcycle gangs do.
After all we are an army of sorts, we have a commander and chief I just don't think we realize that we have other soldiers fighting side by side with us. We don't treat each other like brothers (sisters) in arms. Are we prepared to put our lives on the line for our fellow soldiers, are we willing to go into battle with them prepared to die for them?????
I think most of us are willing to Pray for our fellow soldiers but that can't just be it. Don't get me wrong, I think praying for someone is a wonderful thing to do, but most of the time people need physical help; they need help with their finances, they need help with their children, they need help with their snow removal, they may need help paying for the parking at Sick Kids hospital as they sit beside their sick child, day after day, week after week. Or perhaps they need help getting up in the morning when all they want to do is die..... if we are to be Christ's arms, then we need to use them.
9/11 Firemen and Flag
When 911 hit and all those firemen and police were killed, the remaining "fighters" stepped up to the plate and took care of the fallen "fighters" families.... that is just awesome to me.
Why can't more Christians treat their fellow "fighters" like that..... we need to band together, we are in a war where peoples lives are at stake... their eternal lives. How committed are we in this battle, how committed am I????
9/11 Firemen
God refers to battles and warriors all the time.... I think there is a special bond between warriors when they place their fellow warriors life above their own. We know of one very special Warrior who did just that, He chose to give up His life for ours. He stepped up to the plate, He did something about it!!!!!!

Now another funny thing about this whole thing is that, when I manage to sing the whole line through (when I don't cry) my head hears this;..... ♫Oh say does that starred spangled banner yet wave, for the land of the free and the home of the brave...... "Play Ball"... :0) ♫

  1. Yes, unity, loyalty...so important in the Kingdom of God. Oh, may His Kingdom come and His will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

It will be an awesome sight, if we as believers grasped this and wrapped our lives around it. What a difference we'd make in the world-maybe this is the global 'warming' we really need! lol
