Silent Killer
As some of you may already know, my mom is in the hospital after having a "silent" heart attack.
The doctors say she probably had the heart attack within the last 2 weeks.
She has no recollection of any "heart issues", she does remember having one night where she felt funny...she describes it as black.
What brought her FINALLY into the hospital was an increasing shortness of breath....she was unable to walk across a room without having to stop and "catch her breath"...
After a "stern" telephone conversation with yours truly, she went to the hospital.
Her shortness of breath is caused by the fluid build up around her lungs, caused by the ineffectiveness of her now 'damaged' heart, she also has a diaphragm that has stopped working.
She is now awaiting an appointment to have an angiogram done in the city.
I share this post with you as a precaution for all of us, here are a couple of the most common signs;
- discomfort in chest, arms or jaw that seem to go away after resting,
- shortness of breath and tiring easily.
- chest pain
- and oddly enough, many victims reported a feeling of overwhelming doom just before an attack.
My mother felt none of the above.
Unexplained SHORTNESS OF BREATH IS NOT NORMAL.....seek medical treatment RIGHT AWAY, the longer you put up with it, the more DAMAGE you ARE DOING TO YOUR HEART.
It is recommended that taking an aspirin (not Tylenol or Advil)...will possibly HELP with regaining proper blood flow, UNTIL you get yourself to the EMERGENCY ROOM...
Blessings,
Cynthia♥
I'm really sorry to hear your mom's news- I'm glad it didn't end up worse than it was and I'll pray that this will end up being a blessing in disguise. God does all kinds of amazing stuff like that as you know.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenniffer.....What a wonderful thought, thanks!

I hope the tests come back with good news. One time I heard a statistic on how many people suffered either a stroke or heart attack and didn't realize it. I just wondered how could that be; but it does happen quite often.
ReplyDeleteThanks for giving us the signs to look out for.
Best wishes for your mother.
Peace,
Kay
Thanks Kay.... my mom is still in shock about it all, she just can't believe it...

Oh Cynthia, I hope everything is okay with your Mum
ReplyDeleteShe's certainly in the best possible place to get the help, care and advice that will get her back on the mend again.
It's all very scary to think what might have happened but with sharing your Mum's story and what the signs of what to look for, hopefully it will be a little reminder for us all.
Thanks for sharing...and I wish your Mother the best of health as soon as possible. xo♥ox
Thanks Neesie.... mom was moved to ICU last night....she has blood clots on her lungs.... she is receiving med's now and is breathing a bit better with the aid of an oxygen mask.
